A: This is simply a feng shui myth. If someone moves away it is not because of the room being above a garage. It can be merely a coincidence or the bedroom may have its energy effected by the doors that lead to the room. There are many bedrooms above the garage is made, does that mean a lot of homeowners don’t stay in their house? That is quite absurd isn’t it? In our opinion, the bedroom above the garage is usually not good a good idea for 2 reasons:
1. Health: The carbon monoxide can seep into the room, affecting the room occupant’s health such as allergies, cough, etc. ..
2. Not peaceful: the bedroom is a place to rest and needs to be a quiet space. The sound of the garage opening and closing will make it difficult to get a good night’s sleep, again leading to health concerns in the long run.
New feng shui schools believe that the room in the garage is not considered to have a floor, and thus they normally suggest to paint the floor using earth colors as beige or brown. However, according to Xuan Kong Flying Star, whether a bedroom is good or bad depends more on the Sheng Qi of that room and what is the influence from its natal chart. So in this case, not all bedrooms above garages are bad. We need to take proper direction, plot the chart of the house based on its proper period and analyse the Sheng Qi of that room. Feng shui remedies can then be recommended accordingly.
