Q: Hi Prof. Diamanda. I was born in the year of the dragon. Next year, 2012, is a dragon year. People usually say it’s unlucky if the current animal year is the same as one’s birth animal sign. Is this belief accurate with astrology and Feng Shui? What is good or bad for people with a dragon sign in the year 2012?
A: Only the year which has the opposing sign to the birth animal sign is bad. For instance, the year of Rabbit clashes with the Rooster sign, and the year of the Dragon clashes with the Dog sign. However, not only the year and birth animal is bad, it can also be the birth month/day/hour as anyone who was born in the hour/month/hour of the Rooster can experience difficulties in the year of Rabbit. On the other hand, people who were born on the year of the Rabbit may experience success. Therefore, with the unpredictability nature of astrology, conclusions cannot be made simply by birth year alone.
There are many classifications of dragons such as Wood Dragon, Fire Dragon, Earth Dragon, Metal Dragon, and Water Dragon and they all have different affects.
The dragon is one of four animal signs of self-punishment. They often face the consequences of their own actions.
For instance, there are numerous warnings against smoking as it causes lung cancer. However, a person may not listen to that advice until he/she is inflicted with that very disease.
Of course, we all have to take responsibility for our actions, but particularly the four self-punishment animal signs (Dragon, Horse, Rooster, and Pig). Take extra caution when making decisions to avoid actions that one may regret.
However, remedy through Feng Shui where one lives can minimize inauspicious events. Equipped with the right tools, you can avoid misfortunes and welcome in the New Year with good luck.
